Paintings / Sculptures

27. October 2026 - 31. January 2027 Curator: Mária Horváthová

The work of Austrian painter Marcus Anton Huber is spontaneous, inspired by free thought flows and subconscious imagination. He creates according to the principles of psychic automatism – the creative method of the surrealists – and by using unconscious, even ritualistic processes and complete liberation from the dictates of reason, he “writes down” his thoughts and feelings as a reflection of his deepest inner self.

His artistic expression follows a broad stream of abstract creation, primarily in poetic-lyrical forms. He works with combined drawing techniques, with a fragile network of intersecting lines, diagonals, curves, grids, and line structures, which create a rich, even dreamlike composition. This fragile impression is also enhanced by his moderate, mostly monochrome use of color. Huber “draws” on canvas and handmade paper and uses charcoal, chalk, Indian ink, wax, tempera, various pigments and encaustic. He is excited by the principle of chance and disorder, and in addition to his relationship to his own world, the magic of geometric shapes is a source of his inspiration. His works are created in monothematic cycles and series.

Milan Lukáč is known for his unique morphology, specific selection of materials and techniques, and especially his ability to combine specially formed matter with various used, discarded, or found metal objects in the manner of l´art trouve. Using the raw poetics and bizarre shapes of these fragments, he composes sculptures full of movement that float, tremble, and undulate in space. He works with various structures, he grinds, welds, polishes, and creates patinas, using metal chips and splatters, and the corten rust effect, unusual structures, and color accents. These are specific artistic interventions that give his works a seal of uniqueness and authenticity.

His expressiveness ranges from simple shape abbreviations to rich compositional schemes and shapes. He seeks inspiration in the infinite world of plants and especially animals, which he often symbolically connects with the world of people. A special chapter in his work is represented by figurative works, especially historical and mythical figures, kings, queens, and horsemen. - suggestive solitaires that evoke diverse mental parallels and fragile metaphors in which the artist‘s personal stories are encoded.
