Miloš Šobajïč born in 1945 in Belgrade is one of the most important artistic personalities from the countries of former Yugoslavia. In 1970 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, but since 1972 he has lived and created his works in Paris. His art has been connected with painting from the beginning, but later his activities were also directed towards sculpture, objects and installations. His interpretation of the world places him in the line of apocalyptic visionaries, whose works reveal man as the instrument of his own fall. His art can be described by several basic expressions: intensity and violence, catastrophe, tragedy, monster, mutation, doubt and uncertainty, speed, space and time. In his works, man is not an integrated whole, but a broken entity, from which parts, especially extremities, fly away. The combination of technical elements with the figure, their extreme situations, point to the deep contradiction between progress and the sustainable life. Pictures and objects usurp space and attention with expansive dynamism and differentiated work with colour.
