The exhibition of contemporary Russian art was conceived by ART4.ru, a contemporary art museum, and the pARTner Project Gallery. The conception traced the development from 1980 to the present. In spite of political restrictions, the Russian environment produced a great number of internationally recognised figures, many of whom co-created the world art scene. This is exemplified in the work of Ilya Kabakov, Vitaly Komar, Alexander Meladim, Vladimir Yankilevsky, Erik Bulatov, George Pusenkoff, Victor Pivovarov, Francisco Infante-Arana, the groups Blue Noses, World Champions and other outstanding artists. Thanks to their talent, many of them acquired international reputations during the era of socialism, when numerous artists were forced to emigrate. The show presented fifty artists and more than two hundred works. So far Russian Art has been the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of contemporary Russian art in Slovakia and Central Europe. It showed the work of remarkable artists who have won world renown.
