In 1993 Petr Pavlík interrupted his artistic career and focused on theoretical, critical and literary activity, publishing articles in the journals and newspapers Ateliér, Lidové noviny, Prager Zeitung, Literární noviny, Host and Mladý svět. In 1997 the Central European Gallery and Publishing House brought out ‘Art and Life in the Czech Lands, or The Art of Living in the Czech Lands’, a collection of Pavlík’s theoretical and critical essays.

Pavlík has given lectures at the Academy of Fine Arts, Prague, the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Technology, Brno, the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, Prague, Glasgow School of Art, the University of Arts and Design, Halle, the Aleš South Bohemian Gallery and elsewhere.
